Online Video Therapy
The social distancing and sheltering-in-place necessitated by COVID-19 has caused a move of psychotherapy onto encrypted internet video-therapy platforms.
I have found that internet video-therapy results seem to have been generally equally productive and effective as in-office.
Research backs up my experiences, showing that online work is equally helpful and successful as in-person.
In fact, in some ways, I find that video-therapy can feel surprisingly more connected and bonding than in an office, as our faces appear to be very close. This in itself can promote greater empathy and collaboration.
I utilize a special HIPAA-compliant, dedicated medical system Zoom platform. Zoom employs industry-standard end-to-end Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption using 256-bit keys to protect meetings. Zoom encryption fully complies with HIPAA Security Standards to ensure the security and privacy of patient data. Zoom is constantly upgrading this premier system, including increasing security and encryption.
Early reports of ZOOM security breaches were false: Some people were distributing videos they themselves had recorded for public consumption!
